Not the end-all but still has its usesSeptember 2, 2010 Saffron Bright-Rawlings(Eugene, OR) I was really hoping to be able to quit shaving my legs (I'm so tired of that!), but it hasn't been satisfactory for that use. Maybe because I have blondish, fine hair on my legs, I don't know. It is VERY sloooow...that is, to get EVERY hair, you have to move it at snail speed across the skin, and it still doesn't leave my legs as silky smooth as shaving. I did find that the hair grew back thinner (than after shaving), but that's because hair grows in cycles and you always have follicles that are in a different stages of growth--the good news then is that if you use this little machine regularly, it doesn't hurt very much each time (it hurts a lot the first time or if you let a lot of hair grow back in between, but when you're using it regularly, it just feels prickly) The bad news is that the amount of time it takes to keep legs hair-free with this machine is so much greater than shaving that I eventually gave up and went back to shaving. HOWEVER: It is awesome for underarms and bikini area. I guess because the individual hairs are thicker and there aren't so many of them, I only have to do a touch up in those areas every 4-7 days to keep them hair-free. For just those two areas, I think it was totally worth the purchase price, and I'm glad I own it. I know that plucking, which is what this item does, will eventually damage the follicle enough that the hair won't grow back. This may take some time (forever it seems at times), but my hope is that eventually I won't even need to deal with hair in those areas. We'll see.

I used this epilator exactly 2 times before the head came apart and will not go back together.
The construction is poor. The plastic piece on top does not fit correctly.
Do not waste your money on this low-end epilator.
My Braun Epilator works very well.August 29, 2010 Patricia Humphrey(OK) I purchased the Braun SE3170 Silk-epil SoftPerfection Epilator and had it delivered within 4 days, even though at the time of purchase, I filled it out to be sent using just regular shipping. It works great for me and I am really happy with it, since I have facial hair that must be taken care of about every other day. This product is easy to operate and clean. Well worth the money!!!
Not the bestAugust 27, 2010 L. Wheeler(AFB Germany) I have been using braun epilators for 14 years now and this is VERY DISAPPOINTING! I didn't believe that this brand can make a bad epilator but here it is ... it doesn't work as well as my previous ones.
Wife loves itAugust 25, 2010 tea for me I bought this for my wife to replace her old elilady that was worn out. She says the Braun Epilator works better (faster) runs smother and is better than the epilady was, when it was new. She is very happy with the purchase she was even kicking herself for not buying something new sooner. I wont say how I came to be aware the old epilady was warn out but I got brownie points for making the purchase. A happy wife is not the only benefit ;-)
